New Braille Requirements

New Braille Requirements  Braille Signage changes as of 1 May 2011

As per AS 1428 it is mandatory that all toilets and other amenities for public use have braille and tactile signs.

For the visually impaired The Building Code of Australia (Clause D3.6) requires that Braille and Tactile signage be displayed on ALL

Sanitary facilities (other than private residences)

Braille and Tactile signage is also required to indicate accessible routes, such as ramps/ lifts for persons in wheelchairs. It is also required

at non accessible entries/ lifts, to advise of accessible entries. Here is a copy of our existing and new Braille signage:

These changes have taken effect from 1 May 2011 and will be on every building approved after this date.
